Leadership roles are named director and manger level positions requiring specific skills, a strong work ethic and a commitment of 10+ hrs. per week possibly increasing as we near election day on May 5th. (also looks good on a resume!)
Research roles involve specific assignments, usually finding and sharing data. These positions require good technical skills, including MS Excel, can be done 100% remote and carry the expectation of about 5 hrs. per week commitment.
Field representatives work where the action is! These voter contact roles involve knocking on doors, placing yard signs and making phone calls. The commitment is 5 hrs. per week, increasing in April through election day.
The Volunteer Coordinator is in charge of scheduling, training, and managing the general volunteer pool, as well as finding the right job for everyone who wants to help. The volunteers workin g for you will be responsible for knocking on doors, making phone calls, passing out campaign material and everything else related to voter contact.
-Commit to spending time on the campaign. As we get closer to Election Day, this could mean most nights and weekends.
-Organize the campaign’s volunteer activities
-Maintain the list or database of everyone who said they’d be willing to help
-Schedule enough of the right people at the right time for the specific activity where they’re needed.
-Manage the volunteers’ training sessions
-Build & Maintain Relationships with volunteers
-Create a fun and engaging environment for volunteers
-Facilitate volunteers’ development into leadership roles
-Address issues that arise
The Ideal Director of Volunteer Coordination:
-Is tech-savvy and has a strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Google Drive - Docs and Sheets
-Will be extremely organized
-Is a “people-person”
-Can effectively manage volunteer team dynamics
-Recognizes the soft skills that make great field volunteers and leaders
-Will have the flexibility and organization to work with a team.
-Will be passionate about contributing to a positive environment in the campaign.
-Will work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
This volunteer leadership role will be responsible for developing the strategy to build an effective coalition for their assigned specialty area. This includes managing a team that will focus on outreach, relationship building, and ultimately, getting votes from the members and stakeholders in the specialty area. You will manager your volunteers as a team and individually. You will oversee your team in cultivating the coalition, executing on strategy, and clearing barriers to success. As this is a campaign leadership role, it requires a commitment of 10 hours per week (minimum), which will increase as the campaign gains momentum.
We need a Manager for each group. The coalitions are as follows - Women, LGBTQ, Environment & Green Energy, Animal Welfare, Diversity & Inclusion, Education, and Health & Welfare
-Build and coordinate strong working relationships with campaign partners in volunteer management, fundraising, events,
-Coach and support team members to perform/deliver in a way that will markedly contribute to winning the election
-Track and report metrics to determine impact of your team, efficacy of tactics, and to inform strategy adjustment
The Ideal Director of Coalitions will be:
-Experienced in managing people in a fast paced and targeted environment
-Able to think strategically and deliver on strategy
-Tech-savvy with a strong working knowledge of MS Excel and/or Google Drive Docs and Sheets
-A personally engaging style, with a positive and proactive approach to working with leadership and other supporters
-Highly organized; able to prioritize multiple tasks as well as reconcile competing priorities, conscientious, intentional, trustworthy, and dependable, with an eye for details
· An effective and patient manager of people and teams
